Calyx & Teebee

Calyx & Teebee are a European drum and bass duo, active as a collaborative project since 2004. The pairing begins with a longer working relationship: Calyx and Teebee meet in 1998 as label-mates on Moving Shadow, and each builds a solo catalogue on a range of respected drum and bass labels before forming the duo.

Early collaboration and breakthrough releases

Their first studio work together produces “Follow The Leader” and “Cyclone”, both of which receive strong critical attention. These tracks also appear on Calyx’s debut album No Turning Back and are later used by Rockstar as part of a global television campaign for the Midnight Club computer game series.

In 2006 they release The Quest on Teebee’s Subtitles label, a record that becomes one of the notable drum and bass releases of that year. In the same year they also contribute “The Shape Of Things To Come” to Renegade Hardware’s 10th anniversary album.

Albums, label work and live activity

Calyx & Teebee go on to launch Momentum Music, using it for the release of their debut album Anatomy. The album gains wide support within the scene and remains on sales charts for an extended period. After its release, the duo tour extensively and perform joint DJ sets using six decks and two mixers, with both artists playing at the same time.

Their second album takes five years to complete. By 2012 they are working on a further album for RAM Records. Their music sits within drum and bass and electronic music, with tags associated with neurofunk and darkstep.
