Burns

Burns is a US hip-hop producer from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He is active in electronic music as well, and his work is associated with disco and electro influences.

Early life and musical development

He begins making music at the age of twelve, first on guitar and keyboards, and later discovers sampling as a teenager. He grows up with an artist and painter for a mother and a professional heavyweight boxer for a father, and that mix of visual art and physical power shapes his sense of melody and impact. He is born in Glasgow and starts producing his own tracks in 2000.

Style and influences

Burns develops his sound while listening closely to French electronic music from the mid-1990s, including the work released on labels such as Crydamoure, Vulure and Roule. Artists including Daft Punk, Cassius and Le Knight Club influence his approach, and he studies their records in order to improve his own production. He combines 1970s and 1980s hardware with modern software and samples, and produces a large number of demos while defining his signature style.

Career notes

He is working on a debut album and building a series of releases.
