Bram Stoker
Bram Stoker is a progressive rock band from Bournemouth, United Kingdom, formed in 1969 and active since then. The group is associated with psychedelic rock, hard rock and British progressive rock, and it builds its sound around Tony Bronsdon’s Hammond organ work, which is central to its dark, intense style.
Style and reputation
The band attracts a cult following in the early 1970s and is often described as a “Gothic” progressive rock act. Its music is also compared with the sound of The Nice, especially because of the prominent organ-led arrangements. Later material moves away from those early comparisons, while still keeping the Hammond organ at the centre of the music.
Releases
Bram Stoker releases the album Heavy Rock Spectacular in 1972. A compilation follows in 2008 on Digimix Records, bringing together tracks from that album and previously unreleased recordings. The band then issues a follow-up to its debut in 2014, more than four decades after the first album.
Membership
Jon Bavin is listed as a member of the group.
