Bombdog are a four-piece band from Birmingham, England, formed in 2008. They record and perform in the West Midlands and build their sound from a mix of post-rock, Balkan, Mexican and French traditional music. The group plays both electric and acoustic sets to show the range of its material.

The band consists of Becky Cresswell on vocals, cornet and melodica, Andy Bird on guitars and bouzouki, Phil Truslove on bass, and Sara Turner on drums.

Style and influences

Bombdog combine differing folk and world-music elements with post-rock influences. Their stated listening includes Mogwai, Beirut, Sigur Rós, Hawk and a Hacksaw, Labradford, Jacques Brel, Yann Tiersen and Silver Mt. Zion.

Activity and performances

The band performs regularly in the Midlands and elsewhere, and has played venues including The Island Bar, Katie Fitzgeralds, The Victoria and The Hang Up. They have also supported The Young Runaways at The Little Civic in Wolverhampton and The Scholars at The Actress & Bishop in Birmingham. Their early releases draw attention through podcasts and online radio, and they complete their first album while continuing to gig beyond Birmingham.
