Bodhi

Bodhi is a Welsh house music duo from Cardiff made up of Olly Howells and Luke Welsby. They work in UK house and bass music, and their name is also associated with a separate Portland, Oregon garage rock group that records under the same name.

Welsh duo

The Cardiff duo Bodhi consists of Olly Howells and Luke Welsby. Their debut release, Emanation / SY, comes out on Push & Run Records in 2012, and they also have a release planned for Sinden’s Grizzly imprint. Their music receives support from artists including SBTRKT, Brodinski, Skream, Machinedrum, Kastle and Falty DL.

Bodhi also receives airplay on BBC Radio 1, including shows hosted by Skream & Benga, Gilles Peterson, Rob da Bank, Huw Stephens, Diplo & Friends and B-Traits.

Other artist with the same name

A second group called Bodhi appears in the record as a Portland, Oregon collaboration featuring Neil Cicierega and Jackson Wetherbee. That band is described as an early-2000s project with only one studio recording and many live recordings. Its work is characterised as a gritty garage rock style, and its debut album, Secondhand Runner, is recorded by Colin Hegna at Revolver Studios and partly in the band’s southeast Portland home.

Secondhand Runner includes new songs such as “Bystander”, “Rebels, Etc.” and “The Kids Are So Nice”, along with a revised version of “Nadine”, which first appears on the 2008 PDX Pop Now! compilation. Some tracks are mixed by Stephen George at Gimme That Sound Studios in New York, and the mastering takes place in Manhattan.
