Blues Train

Blues Train is a Spanish blues band that plays blues rock in a big-band format. It forms in the mid-1990s around vocalist Chris Johnson, guitarist John Rack and Hammond organist Jocelyn Michelle, and later grows into a 12-member group.

The band draws on blues-based artists such as The Allman Brothers Band, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Eric Clapton, combining traditional American blues influences with a modern rock style. It headlines for many years at B.B. King’s blues club in Hollywood, California.

Blues Train releases three full-length CDs between 1999 and 2004. Its album Rock The Blues includes a DVD and the track “Get Back To Austin”. Musicians appearing on the release include Gregg Bissonette on drums, Matt Bissonette on bass, Denny Freeman on guitar, Mike Thomson on piano and T Lavitz on piano.

Chris Johnson wins the Los Angeles Music Awards in the Best Male Vocalist category in 2005, and Blues Train is runner-up in the Best Video category.
