Blue Rose Code is the recording name of Scottish singer-songwriter Ross Wilson, who is born in Edinburgh and is based in East London. The project sits within alternative folk and folk, and is associated with the idea of “Caledonian Soul”.

Blue Rose Code’s debut release appears on Natural Studio Records. It is titled Rawlnish, a name Wilson takes from his family’s house on the Isle of Lewis.

Wilson explains that Rawlnish is a Gaelic word meaning “the point at the end of the land”. He says the house has stood for more than 200 years and is one of his favourite places. He also describes it as a place that has inspired much of the music, and says it is traditionally considered the last inhabited house before Canada on the island. At certain times of year, he says, the northern lights can be seen there.
