Bert Miller And The Animal Folk

Bert Miller And The Animal Folk are a folk act formed in 2005 in Bristol. Their songs focus on storytelling and are written in a style that ranges from cheerful and playful to darkly comic. A recurring theme in the material is Bert’s love of animals.

Background and performances

The group wins the Totnes Buskers Competition in 2007, which leads to an invitation from Michael Eavis to play the Queens Head stage at Glastonbury Festival. They also appear on the festival circuit from 2007 onwards and host nights in venues around the country.

The act is invited to perform on the opening night of Glastonbury’s Emerging Talent Competition and returns to the festival. Other festival appearances include Green Man in Wales in 2009 and 2010, and Beyond The Bubble in the south of France in 2008. In 2008, they are also asked to provide music for a shadow puppet show at Battersea Arts Centre in London.

The band releases a self-titled EP in 2008.
