Bakermat
Bakermat is the alias of Lodewijk Fluttert, a Dutch producer from Utrecht, the Netherlands, born in 1991. He works in tech house and is also associated with deep house, house, electronic and chillout.
Background and development
He develops an interest in music at an early age and listens widely across genres. He is into jazz and blues before discovering house music when he is around 12. He builds a large personal library by following tracks posted on blogspots. At 18, he goes to the University of Utrecht to study psychology and lives independently with other students. His time in Utrecht leads him to discover deep house and begin producing and DJing.
Sound and career
Bakermat’s music combines deep house with jazz and soul influences. His sets are described by their melodic character and use of jazz instruments such as saxophones, flutes and trumpets, which are central to his style. After developing his sound, he attracts attention quickly and moves from being a student with no established music network to an artist with labels and agencies approaching him.
Releases and collaborations
He signs with the agency Soulmax. On Delicieuse Records he releases the Vandaag EP, which includes the tracks “Vandaag” and “Zomer (DM mix)”. Other tracks associated with him include “Uitzicht”, “Black Cat John Brown” and “Strandfeest”. He also works on productions with other artists, including Arjuna Schiks and Tonique.
