Attaque 77

Attaque 77 is a punk rock group from Buenos Aires, Argentina, formed in 1987. The band starts out as a group of friends playing songs they admire, especially material by The Ramones, who are a major influence on their early sound and image. In their first period, they perform in a straightforward late-1980s punk style, with lyrics about working-class life and exploited factory workers, and they also wear denim jackets as part of their early look.

Style and influences

The group’s music develops over time from its original punk approach into a more modern punk sound associated with neo punk. Their influences include The Ramones, The Clash and Bad Religion. The band also moves away from denim clothing, which they reject as a fashion trend.

Notable recordings

Several albums are key points in the band’s history. El Cielo Puede Esperar brings them wider recognition, while Amen is a high-selling release and Antihumano, from 2003, is another important album in their catalogue. Among their best-known songs is Hacelo por mi. The song Donde las aguilas se atreven is also notable for its lyrics and gives its name to their fan club, Regimiento de pecadores.

Attaque 77 often write songs with social and political subject matter. Their members are vegetarian, and the band composes songs supporting animal rights, including Espiral de silencio, San Fermin and Ojos de perro.
