Athlete

Athlete are an alternative rock and indie rock group from Deptford, United Kingdom, active from 2002 to 2013. The band consists of Joel Pott, Carey Willets, Tim Wanstall and Steve Roberts. Pott sings and plays guitar, Willets plays bass and sings, Wanstall plays keyboards, and Roberts plays drums.

The group forms in Deptford, London, and the members are friends from the age of fourteen. Their music combines indie rock with electronic elements, and later incorporates organic sounds. Their work also sits alongside glitch pop and indietronica, as well as post-britpop.

For live performances, Athlete are joined by Johnny Pilcher of the English indietronica band Weevil as a second guitarist. Their influences include Grandaddy and the Flaming Lips.
