Arena

Arena is a British neo-progressive rock band from Virginia Water, England. It forms in 1995 and remains active. The group is founded by Clive Nolan and Mick Pointer, the latter having played drums in Marillion’s original line-up.

Style and writing

The band works within neo-progressive rock and progressive rock, and its music ranges from symphonic passages to harder rock material. All of Arena’s lyrics are written by Clive Nolan.

Arena’s line-up includes Clive Nolan, Mick Pointer, John Jowitt, John Mitchell, Paul Manzi, Paul Wrightson, Rob Sowden, Kylan Amos, Damian Wilson, Keith More, Cliff Orsi, John Carson, Ian Salmon, and Paul Wrightson. John Mitchell also appears in other projects, including KINO, The Urbane, It Bites, and Frost*, where he also sings as well as plays guitar.

Some of Arena’s later albums share a sound with Shadowland, another project involving Clive Nolan.
