Apollo

Apollo is an American indie rock band from North Bend, Oregon, active from 2010 to 2013. The group also appears in descriptions as a post-hardcore and experimental rock act, and its early work draws on post-hardcore and jazz influences. The band gains attention in local media and on local radio in Oregon, and it aims to reach a wider audience on the West Coast.

History and recordings

Beginning in early 2010, Apollo builds its sound around rhythm section interplay, ambient guitars and the use of multiple voices within the group. Tyler Mansfield fronts the band on vocals, with Sam Duell on guitar and vocals, Justin Sweet on guitar, Scott Mecum on bass, Anthony Hatzel on drums and vocals, Luke Sanchez on bass, and Chris Krajewski on bass and vocals. The band self-records its first album, Apollo EP, which contains six songs and two instrumentals.

After establishing its visual identity, including an “A” symbol and self-made artwork associated with Sam Duell’s Dead Sea Design, Apollo works with Monolith Management. It releases a self-titled album in late 2010, the EP Lighthouse in 2011, and the full-length album We Must Be Feeling The Full Moon in 2013. That album contains 11 songs and is described as the band’s first full-length record, with a more unorthodox approach to writing.
