Aly & Fila

Aly & Fila is an Egyptian trance duo made up of Aly Amr Fathalah and Fadi Wassef Naguib. The pair know each other from kindergarten and begin making electronic music and DJing in 1999 after building a small studio and taking inspiration from artists including Paul van Dyk, Steve Helstrip and Chicane.

Career

After establishing themselves in Egypt, they move into international work and sign with the German label Euphonic Records in 2002. Their first release, Eye of Horus, receives substantial airplay from DJs including Paul van Dyk, Armin van Buuren and DJ Tiësto. The track is later licensed to Fundamental Recordings in the Netherlands, reaches number 4 in the Dutch Dance charts, and appears on compilations such as Gatecrasher Resident Transmission 02, Viva Club Rotation, Mexico Love Parade and Energy 03.

After their contract with Euphonic Records ends, Fila meets Andy Prinz and they launch a first sublabel of Offshore. Their release through Offshore Music Switzerland and AP Pro Audio, Spirit Of KA, appears on many playlists and is played by Paul van Dyk. Markus Schulz also makes a remix of the track.

Performances and associations

The duo performs alongside a wide range of trance and electronic artists, including Armin van Buuren, Blank & Jones, Johan Gielen, Tall Paul, Misja Helsloot, Darren Tate, Sonique, Sultan & Tonedepth, John ‘00’ Fleming, Scott Bond, Ben Lost, Satoshi Tomiiee, Darren Christian, Sonorous, Robert Nickson, Kyau vs. Albert, Andy Manston and others. They also feature on club tours including Ministry of Sound, Clockwork Orange, Godskitchen, The Gallery and Renaissance, and play at Nature One and the main stage of Street Parade in Switzerland.
