Acoustic Strawbs
Acoustic Strawbs are an English folk rock group from London, formed in 2000 as an acoustic offshoot of Strawbs after Dave Cousins and Brian Willoughby are booked to perform as a duo in Twickenham. When Cousins damages his wrist, Dave Lambert steps in to cover while Cousins sings, and the format proves successful enough for tours to follow.
Line-up and development
The group centres on Dave Cousins and Brian Willoughby at the start, with Willoughby leaving in 2004 to focus on work with Cathryn Craig. Chas Cronk then replaces him, adding bass pedals, acoustic bass guitar, extra vocals and guitar. Other musicians associated with the wider Strawbs line-up include Ron Chesterman, Tony Hooper, Lindsay L. Cooper, Rick Wakeman, John Ford, Richard Hudson, Blue Weaver, Dave Lambert, John Hawken, Rod Coombes, Brian Willoughby, Andy Richards, Roy Hill and Tony Fernandez.
Recordings
The group’s first studio release is Baroque & Roll, issued in 2001. They are associated with Witchwood Records.
