Acceptance

Acceptance is an alternative rock group from Seattle, Washington, active from 1998 to the present. The band’s core lineup includes Jason Vena on vocals, Christian McAlhaney on guitars and vocals, Kaylan Cloyd on guitars, Ryan Zwiefelhofer on bass guitar, and Garrett Lunceford on drums. Other members associated with the group include Nick Radovanovic, Christopher Camp, Peter Pizzuto and Kyle Flynn.

Releases

The band releases two EPs, Lost For Words and Black Lines To Battlefields, in 2002 and 2003 respectively. Their first full-length album, Phantoms, follows in 2005. After the band reforms in 2016, it returns with a new album featuring the single “Different”, which reaches number 25 on the US Modern Rock chart. Another track from that release, “This Conversation Is Over”, is re-recorded in Simlish for The Sims 2: University.

History

Acceptance forms in 1998 and later disbands in 2006 after work on a follow-up album remains unfinished. During the period after the split, Jason Vena works for his family’s business in Mercer Island, Washington, while Kaylan Cloyd joins Ryan Van Wieringen and Bobby Darling of Gatsby’s American Dream in Search/Rescue. Christian McAlhaney, Nick Radovanovic and Kyle Flynn also form a separate band, Thunder Thunder, with Jerrod Bettis.

Line-up and associated projects

The band’s original and reunion-era members include Jason Vena, Christian McAlhaney, Kaylan Cloyd, Ryan Zwiefelhofer and Garrett Lunceford. McAlhaney’s later commitment with Anberlin affects the status of Thunder Thunder. Acceptance’s recorded work and later activity place it within alternative rock, rock, emo and indie contexts.
