Festival No.6 Announces Beach Activities and Partnership With Volvo

Volvo Car UK announces a new partnership with Festival No 6, held between the 13th and the 15th September 2013.

In addition to an exciting line-up of bands and artists such as The Manic Street Preaches and My Bloody Valentine, Volvo will be offering visitors the chance to take part in free Power Kiting and stand-up paddle-board sessions.  It is open to individuals, couples, families and groups and will be held on the beach within Portmeirion. Each session will see groups take part in a one hour lesson on how to fly and control a power kite, like those used by kitesurfers.

Volvo will also be providing a number of cars to help complement the Ride and Drive Service, allowing attendees to arrive in style at the festival, and support the production team with cars for artists travel.

Nikki Rooke, head of corporate communications, events and sponsorship for Volvo Car UK said, “Festival No 6 is an ideal platform to show off the Volvo brand in what is a unique and picturesque setting.  I’m sure festival goers will enjoy everything that’s on offer and they will certainly enjoy the chance to experience a power kiting lesson.”

The festival itself is designed to be an intimate boutique music and arts festival, sculpted for those who enjoy life's finer things. Visitors to the festival have the choice of sleeping in a castle, a boutique tipi or their own tent and are able to watch headline bands in the lush colourful gardens, catch a comedian in the historical town hall, stroll to a string ensemble on the estuary promenade or enjoy their favourite DJ. Also on offer are an eclectic mix of screenings, readings, performance art, installations, intimate talks and conversations.

"We are extremely excited to have Volvo onboard as a sponsor this year. Having worked with them on a number of other events over the past 5 years, we feel that the values of both brands are perfectly aligned.

"Volvo will be supporting the festival in supplying cars as well as hosting activities along the beautiful Estuary including Kite surfing and Paddle boarding. We feel the activity will really enhance the Festival No. 6 experience and cant wait to see it in action."

Festival No 6 is held in the unique village of Portmeirion on the north Welsh coast, it was built by visionary Welsh architect Sir Clough Williams-Ellis and was the iconic film setting of ‘The Prisoner’.  It is set on its own private peninsula on the southern shores of Snowdonia, standing on cliff top overlooking Cardigan Bay and surrounded by 145 acres of sub-tropical woodlands and miles of sandy beaches. The village gives a unique location to a unique festival.
