The Charlatans

Cornwall’s newest and most rambunctious garden fête, The Great Estate, announce indie rock royalty The Charlatans as the first headline act to take to the main stage in 2018.

Armed with an arsenal of hits, The Charlatans will take to the main stage on Saturday 2nd June. Twenty-seven years since they first bagged a Number One album with ‘Some Friendly’, this talented quartet are still achieving fresh career highs. Having released new single ‘Over Again’ earlier this month, The Charlatans will showcase a mixture of their classic anthems plus a slice of their hugely successful thirteenth album ‘Different Days’ with 2018 partygoers.

Eager revellers will also get the chance to control their own music mix at the Woodland Silent Disco. Hidden within a secret forest glade, the three-day fiesta will see DJ’s battle it out spinning the best in pop, rock and club classics.

Welcoming the Knights of Arkley to the wild meadows of Scorrier House, The Great Estate will thrill audiences with a medieval jousting display. Transporting festival guests back to the Middle Ages, the exhilarating performance is set to amaze.

Adding an air of sophistication to the party, Laurent-Perrier will host a VIP Champagne Lounge for guests wanting first-class, fizzy treatment. Prepare for a cork popping party at the newly added Octopus Lounge.

Discover The Great Estate’s Secret Gin Garden and spend the afternoon soaking up the sunshine with the soft sound of music in the background. Hidden within a maze of decadent garden pathways, the pop-up gin bar is nestled within old walled gardens. Also home to the festival’s Classical Corner, a carefully curated programme of classical music will fill the June weekend.

A vivacious variety of cabaret and burlesque awaits guests in Madame Wong's House of Wrong. Blending glitz, glamour, comedy, tassels and tease, audiences can expect everything from fire dancing to sword swallowing alongside an eclectic blend of world music.

The Great Estate’s onsite wellness area will offer head-to-toe pampering for weary festivals goers.  Boasting wood-fired hot tubs, a sauna yurt, sound bath healing, massage, yoga sessions, guided meditation classes and crystal healing, The Sanctuary is on hand to help rejuvenate tired minds.

Other attractions include an onsite tattoo parlour, children’s area, barber shop and skate park.

From sipping Champagne on the lawn to dancing amongst ancient oak trees, The Great Estate promises a medley of national and international musicians, unforgettable performers, awe-inspiring speakers and head-turning happenings.

Commenting on next year’s event, Festival Directors Ian Whittaker and Ben Hall stated: “We were absolutely delighted by the success of our first garden fête. We certainly put the ‘r’ in rambunctious and we can’t wait to open the gates to Scorrier House in 2018 for what is promising to be the most extravagant party to date. See you on the lawn.”

The Great Estate welcomed over 13,000 guests for the debut event in June 2017, quickly becoming one of the most talked about festivals in the Cornish calendar. Created by Newquay-based production company Quick Panda Productions, The Great Estate continues to add its eccentric mark on Cornwall.
