Creamfields Festival returns to Daresbury in Cheshire from Thursday 27 to Sunday 30 August 2026, with around 80,000 dance music fans expected across the Bank Holiday weekend.

Security is a particularly relevant subject this year after Cheshire Police revealed that officers had discovered a substantial quantity of drugs hidden and buried around the festival grounds during searches before Creamfields opened.

Here's what festivalgoers need to know about drugs, alcohol, drinks and prohibited items at Creamfields 2026.

What drugs were found at Creamfields before the festival?

Cheshire Constabulary revealed on Monday 24 August that specialist officers had recovered quantities of Class A, B and C drugs during pre-festival searches of the Daresbury site.

The discovery included approximately 204 canisters of nitrous oxide, along with bags containing ecstasy, MDMA and ketamine tablets.

The searches formed part of the police operation taking place before the arrival of festivalgoers.

Police said further searches of the site would continue as part of preparations for Creamfields.

What is Creamfields' drugs policy?

Creamfields operates a strict policy on illegal drugs and substances.

The festival's 2026 prohibited-items list states that illegal substances aren't permitted in either the campsite or event arena.

That includes illegal drugs as well as so-called legal highs, new psychoactive substances, unidentifiable substances and nitrous oxide.

Items associated with taking nitrous oxide are also prohibited.

Anyone attending Creamfields should therefore be clear that bringing prohibited drugs or substances onto the festival site could result in confiscation, refusal of entry or further action.

What should you do if you feel unwell after taking something?

This is arguably the most important part of the guide.

If you or someone you're with becomes unwell, get medical or welfare assistance rather than trying to hide what's happened.

Creamfields has First Aid and Welfare facilities available, with experienced staff providing confidential support covering drugs, alcohol, mental health, sexual health and general welfare.

Change Grow Live teams are also operating around the campsites from 9am until 5pm Thursday to Sunday, providing harm-reduction information and support.

Festivalgoers can identify the team by their purple high-visibility clothing.

If someone is seriously unwell, don't leave them alone. Find festival medical, welfare or security staff and explain what has happened as clearly as possible.

How much alcohol can you take into Creamfields?

The rules depend on whether you're camping or attending on a day ticket.

Camping ticket holders

Campers can bring a limited amount of alcohol into the campsite.

The current allowance per person is:

Up to 24 cans

PLUS

Up to 1 litre of spirits or wine in a plastic bottle or box

The cans can be a mixture of drinks such as beer, cider or wine, provided the total doesn't exceed 24 cans.

There are separate limits around pre-mixed cocktails, with the accumulated quantity limited to 1 litre.

Glass isn't allowed.

If your alcohol normally comes in a glass bottle, it needs to be transferred into an appropriate plastic container before arriving.

Kegs aren't permitted.

Can you take your own alcohol into the Creamfields arena?

No.

Being allowed to take alcohol into the campsite doesn't mean you can carry it into the main event arena.

Creamfields states that alcohol brought by campers cannot be taken into the event arena.

This distinction is worth remembering when leaving the campsite for the music.

Can day ticket holders bring alcohol?

No.

Day ticket holders aren't permitted to bring their own alcohol or other drinks into the event.

The exception is one sealed 500ml bottle of water.

If you're attending Creamfields for a single day, don't arrive with your own alcohol expecting to take it through arena security.

Can you take food into Creamfields?

Camping customers can bring food and non-alcoholic drinks onto the campsite.

However, those items aren't necessarily permitted inside the event arena.

The campsite and arena have different rules, so don't assume something allowed next to your tent can automatically be taken through arena security.

Are bags allowed at Creamfields?

Yes, but the arena has a significant restriction.

Bags larger than A4 aren't permitted inside the event arena.

Day-ticket customers are also limited to bags no bigger than A4.

Campers can obviously bring larger luggage and camping equipment onto the campsite, but that doesn't mean those bags can then be carried into the arena.

Can you take disposable BBQs?

Not in 2026.

Creamfields says disposable BBQs aren't permitted this year because of the fire risk associated with hot weather and dry ground conditions.

Leave them at home rather than having them confiscated when you arrive.

What else can't you take to Creamfields?

Some items worth checking before packing include:

  • Illegal drugs and prohibited substances
  • Nitrous oxide
  • Glass bottles and larger mirrors
  • Portable speakers and sound systems
  • Gazebos
  • Disposable BBQs
  • Laser pens
  • Spray cans
  • Full-face masks
  • Weapons
  • Fireworks and other prohibited pyrotechnics

Creamfields doesn't provide storage for prohibited items.

That means something confiscated at the entrance can't simply be collected again on Monday, so checking your bags before travelling could save you losing expensive belongings.

Can you leave Creamfields and come back?

This is another important rule that can catch people out.

Creamfields operates a no pass-out policy.

If you have a camping ticket and leave the festival site, you won't be allowed to re-enter on that ticket.

The same applies to day-ticket holders once they leave.

So don't assume you can leave the site to visit a shop, collect something from your car or go somewhere for food and then simply walk back in.

Creamfields 2026: check before you travel

Creamfields is one of the biggest weekends in the UK dance music calendar, but spending a few minutes checking the rules before leaving home can make arriving at Daresbury considerably easier.

Remember the key points:

Campers: maximum 24 cans plus 1 litre of spirits or wine per person.

No alcohol can be taken into the event arena.

Day ticket holders can't bring alcohol into the festival.

Arena bags must be A4 size or smaller.

Illegal drugs, nitrous oxide and other prohibited substances aren't allowed.

No glass.
