About Shindig Festival

At Charlton Park in Swindon, Shindig Festival 2027 runs as a 10,000-capacity music festival rooted in funk, soul, reggae and dance music.

The official archive traces the event back to 2015, with entries for Shindig Weekender 2015 and Shindig Feast of Fables 2015. The format shifted. Later archive entries include Shindig Weekender 2016, Shindig Weekender 2017 and Shindig Tutti Frutti 2021.

The festival moved to Charlton Park in 2025. Its new site is described by the festival as a bigger home with woodland clearings, an arboretum and a 4am licence.

The 2027 music page lists 3 live stages and 4 DJ venues. Named stages include The Dig Inn, Halcyon, Shimmy Discotheque, SS Nautylicious, Minirig Sub Bus and The Hobo Stage.

Genres listed by the festival run from funk, soul, reggae and hip-hop to dub, electronic, house, disco, drum and bass, afrobeat, afrofunk, jazz, spoken word and punk. The wider programme includes live music, DJ sets, kids' activities, comedy, cabaret, acoustic sets, art installations, circus performances and craft workshops.

Who Is It For?

Kids, teens and adults are part of the audience. The festival describes a family-friendly, multi-generational crowd, with daytime kids' programming and late-night music.

Entry is all ages. Under-18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult aged 18 or over, and teen ticket holders aged 13–17 need responsible-adult details submitted at purchase.

The Venue and Site

Charlton Park's arboretum is central to the site. The festival says it is the only UK music and arts festival set in an arboretum.

The wider setting is parkland with a historic manor and woodland clearings. Camping covers general, boutique and family areas, with a live-in vehicle field also listed.

Facilities include paid showers in General, Boutique and Family camping, bars, food traders, Kids Kingdom / Playground, an information bus, accessible car parking on request and a cinema.

Travel

Charlton Park is in Wiltshire, with Swindon, Bath and Bristol all listed as less than 30 miles away. London is approximately 100 miles from the site, and Birmingham is approximately 80 miles away.

• Road access: the festival lists the A429, B4040, M4 junction 17, M5 junction 11a and A350.
• Parking: all-weekend parking is available, with advance car park passes listed at £40 and higher prices on arrival.
• Accessible parking: accessible car parking can be requested from stewards.
• Car park facilities: the travel page says the car park has no facilities.
