Purbeck Folk Festival
Purbeck Folk Festival covers the broader definition of folk music and you can hear music from all around the world; some deep and meaningful, some get up and jump around. There's something for everyone's musical taste. There are three big barns, used for stages and the bar, which mean that you're dry if it rains, but there's a big grassy bank to sit on in the sunshine.
Ticket prices (only £85 adults) include camping ...and what a campsite it is! Camping is now on the south side of the farm with fabulous views across Swanage Bay and the Purbeck Hills. Although there are no campfires, there is a big communal bonfire at the end of the evening.
Then there is the amazing knees-up as Saturday evening hosts another barn dance.
Based on a little sheep farm and in its fourth year, it’s “how festivals used to be” – friendly, great for kids and adults alike, and small enough to be able to wander around and not lose your friends.
There's a tradition of giving the young ones a chance. The line-up always includes some of the best young folk artists and bands from across the vibrant national scene, some internationally known artists and the best of Dorset's local music scene.
Purbeck Folk Festival is focussed on quality music have a diverse audience from all different backgrounds brought together through their love of good music and everyone shares a respect for the performers which has made Purbeck the festival loved by artists and festival goers alike. The overall festival atmosphere is fantastic and this year sees Purbeck's fringe events growing with even more workshops and crafts throughout the day for adults and folk kids.
Tents, Campers, Caravans! You're all welcome at Wilkswood Farm.
Camping on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday night is included with your weekend ticket.
For day ticket holders, camping is £10 per person per night.
The campsite and Box Office are open from 10am - 10pm on Friday 24th.
...and 10am - 9pm on Saturday (25th) and Sunday (26th).
If you'd like to arrive on Thursday (23rd) we're open from 2pm - 10pm although we have to charge an extra £10 per person for camping - payable on arrival.
The festival campsite closes on Monday afternoon, 27 August. Again, if you wish to stay for a extra night, the farmer will come round to collect £10 per person in the morning ...as he does the rest of the year if you're interested in coming back during non-festival time.
Camping fields are about 150 yards walk from the festival stages.The fields are part hilly, part flat so it is probably best to arrive early to choose your spot.
Camping is on the fields on the side of the farm by the B3069 (Langton Matravers to Kingston road).
There are four zones planned:
•Camping only (no moving traffic - cars parked separately)
•Campers field for camper vans, tents, caravans (in which cars can be parked next to tents etc)
•Quiet zone
•Day parking field
Bring your bikes, as we want to have vehicle movements to a minimum...easy on the legs and good for the enviroment too.
Tent sizes - Camper vans / Caravans - All are welcome. The site tends to be quite hilly but there are flat areas for campers and caravans.
Camp fires are not permitted at the festival.
Cooking on the campsite - There is no problem with cooking on the campsite, its just the naked fires are a no no. A small BBQ is permitted as long as it is in a metal BBQ off of the ground. There's lots of food available on the festival site so you'll have lots of choice.
Rubbish - bins will be provided, sort the recyclables though.
Toilets - good toilets are provided both on the campsite and in the festival area. This year they're nearly all eco-loos!
Showers are located on the campsite - they're the plastic boxes that look like toilets!
