About Bonfest

Bon Scott’s hometown gives Bonfest its centre of gravity. The 2027 edition runs on 1-2 May at the outdoor Bonfest Festival Site in Kirriemuir, Dundee, as a rock and hard rock music festival. It is the festival’s 21st edition.

Bonfest began in 2006. DD8 Music organises it, with volunteers running the event as a fundraiser for the charity. In 2016, the Bon Scott statue was unveiled during the 10th annual Bonfest.

Who Is It For?

The crowd is built around rock fans, with AC/DC and Bon Scott as the spine. It is family-friendly, but not a small-children free-for-all.

The main site admits ages 8 and over. Children must be accompanied by an adult, and accessible parking, viewing and toilets are part of the site provision.

The Venue and Site

The festival uses the outdoor site at Logie Road / Logie Business Park, Kirriemuir DD8 5PU. The main arena sits a short walk from the campsite.

Camping covers tents, campervans/motorhomes and glamping. The campsite is not powered, cars are not allowed inside it, and campervan passes must be booked in advance.

Food vendors include vegetarian and vegan options. Campers have breakfasts and burgers on site, with hot showers, clean toilets and 24-hour security. Kirriemuir also has the Bon Scott statue and memorial garden.

Travel to Bonfest

Kirriemuir sits about 17 miles north of Dundee, in Angus. Dundee is the nearest railway station, and the Happy Bus runs from Dundee.

• By road: access routes include the A90, A926 / Kirriemuir Road and A928 Glamis Road, with the Kirriemuir/A90 roundabout as a key approach point.
• Parking: free on-site weekend parking is available at the main arena, with accessible parking also available.
• Drive times: Dundee is around 30 minutes away, Edinburgh around 1 hour 45 minutes, and Glasgow around 2 hours.
