Zulu Winter

Zulu Winter is a five-piece indie rock group from London, United Kingdom. The line-up consists of Will Daunt on vocals and guitar, Iain Lock on bass, Dom Millard on keyboards, Henry Walton on guitar and Guy Henderson on drums. The group is active from 2011.

Releases and activity

The band forms in London in 2011 and releases its first single, “Never Leave”, on Double Denim Records. In the same week, it plays a BBC Radio 6 Introducing session at Maida Vale for Steve Lamacq. Zulu Winter then signs to Play It Again Sam.

The follow-up single, “We Should Be Swimming”, appears in February 2012 and is named Zane Lowe’s Hottest Record in the World on BBC Radio 1 on 11 January 2012. The band’s third single, “Silver Tongue”, follows in April 2012 and is also chosen as Zane Lowe’s Hottest Record in the World.

Zulu Winter releases its debut album, Language, in May 2012 and supports Keane on their 2012 UK tour. The group later releases a final 10-track mini-album, Stutter, made up of studio and home recordings.

Reception

The band receives coverage in the UK press, including a two-page spread in Q, a New Band Of The Day feature on the Guardian website, and a mention in the Independent's Music One's To Watch Lists: This millennium’s school yard brawl.
