Zeph is the project of Zane O’Brien, a solo artist originally from Maryland who is based in Los Angeles, California. She writes and produces her own music, and her work is associated with bedroom pop, indie pop and alternative rock.

Releases

Zeph’s first single, Forever & Always, appears in 2018. Her first official EP, Scared of Everything, follows in 2021. She also releases a series of demo EPs, including goodnight moon (demos), ache (demos), crush (demos) and closure (demos). These collections feature short songs and demo versions of tracks that first appear on platforms such as YouTube and SoundCloud, and some songs are later uploaded to her YouTube channel.

Her first studio album, character development, appears in 2023. On her YouTube channel, she also compiles a playlist titled little songs by me, which contains short songs and demos, including material that does not yet have full versions.

Writing style

Zeph is known for direct lyrics focused on personal subjects, including depression and self-hate. Her songs are presented in a stripped-back, homemade style across her demos, EPs and album releases.
