Young The Giant
Young The Giant are an American indie rock band formed in Irvine, California in 2004. The group consists of Sameer Gadhia on vocals and percussion, Jacob Tilley on guitar, Eric Cannata on guitar, Payam Doostzadeh on bass and François Comtois on drums. They are associated with Fueled by Ramen.
Background
The band previously performs under the name The Jakes. Their name is intentionally nonsensical, with Gadhia describing it as a left-field idea intended to provoke curiosity. The group’s sound is tagged as indie rock and rock, and it is also described as alternative rock.
Releases and charting singles
Young The Giant release a seven-song EP, Shake My Hand, in 2008. It includes the tracks “Garands” and “Cough Syrup”, both of which later appear on their self-titled debut album. Young the Giant follows in 2011, after an initial digital-only release in October 2010. The album’s first single, “My Body”, reaches number 5 on the Billboard Alternative Songs chart, while “Cough Syrup” reaches number 3 on the same chart.
