You and Me
You and Me is a name used by more than one act. One is a Montreal-based indie-pop duo formed by Shawn Donnelly and Sandra J., who are also described as lovers in life. Their music centres on acoustic instrumentation and close vocal harmonies, with a restrained, intimate style. Their influences include The Beatles, Elliott Smith and Belle and Sebastian. The duo sometimes performs with bassist Danny Roy or Edmund Lam on classical guitar.
Montreal duo
The Montreal group releases music independently and records it themselves. In 2007, it issues its first full-length album, The Romantic and the Realist, which launches in Montreal and becomes available in stores across Canada and in Tokyo through Duotone Records. The band plays shows and festivals in Quebec and Ontario and maintains a local presence in Montreal. Its music also receives support from local radio and CBC Radio 3.
The song “Head Noise Pollution” wins second place in a Bluetracks demo competition in 2008, bringing the group merchandise credit from Archambault. The track also appears first on the second CD of Québec Émergent 2007, issued by SOPREF. The duo performs at the Windsor International Fringe Festival in 2008 and returns for another fringe run in Toronto in 2009.
Áine O'Dwyer alias
Another artist uses You and Me as an alias for the 2017 album Beast Diaries. That release consists of organ compositions and field recordings performed and recorded in 2016, then compiled in 2017 for a pipe organ tour of Australia and New Zealand.
