Y Bandana

Y Bandana is a Welsh-language alt-rock group from Caernarfon, Wales. It forms in 2007 and is active until 2016. The line-up includes brothers Tomos Owens on keyboard and Siôn Owens on bass guitar, their cousin Gwilym Bowen Rhys on lead vocals and guitar, and Robin Llwyd Jones on percussion.

The band is known for pairing humorous lyrics with catchy melodies. It builds a strong profile in the Welsh-language rock scene and receives several awards. At Y Selar awards, it wins best song in three consecutive years for “Cân y Tân” in 2010, “Wyt ti'n nabod Mr Pei?” in 2011 and “Heno yn yr Anglesey” in 2012. It also wins best band in 2010, 2011 and 2012, and best single in 2012. In Gwobrau'r Selar 2016, it is awarded Best Band, Best Song for “Cyn i'r lle ma gau”, Best Album for Fel Tôn Gron, and Best Artwork for Fel Tôn Gron.

Y Bandana appears frequently at Maes B during the annual National Eisteddfod, making a ninth consecutive and final appearance in August 2016 at Abergavenny. Before that event, the group announces that it will disband at the end of the year. Its last gig takes place in Caernarfon in October 2016.
