Xzibit

Xzibit is the stage name of Alvin Nathaniel Joiner, an American rapper, actor, television presenter, radio personality and record executive from Detroit, United States. Born in 1974, he begins his music career in 1992 and becomes associated with hardcore hip hop, hip hop and west coast hip hop.

Music career

He signs with Loud Records, an imprint of RCA Records, and releases his debut studio album, At the Speed of Life, in 1996. The album charts modestly on the Billboard 200 and includes “Paparazzi”, which reaches number 83 on the Billboard Hot 100. His second album, 40 Dayz & 40 Nightz, follows in 1998 and features “What U See Is What U Get”.

Xzibit’s commercial profile brings him to the attention of Dr. Dre, who serves as executive producer on his next two albums. Restless is released in 2000 and peaks at number twelve on the Billboard 200. He then leaves Loud Records for Columbia Records and issues Man vs. Machine in 2002, which reaches number three on the chart. Both albums are co-released through his own label, Open Bar Entertainment.

His later studio albums include Weapons of Mass Destruction (2004), Full Circle (2006) and Napalm (2012). A seventh studio album is also listed in his discography. He performs as part of the hip-hop supergroup Serial Killers from 2013.

Xzibit is a member of Likwit Crew, Soul Assassins, Serial Killers, Golden State Project and The Cali Kings. He is also associated with his own label, Open Bar Entertainment, and the label Hennessy for Everyone.

Acting and television

Alongside music, Xzibit works as an actor and television presenter. He hosts the reality television programme Pimp My Ride during the 2000s and appears as Shyne Johnson in the television series Empire. His film credits include Gridiron Gang (2006), The X-Files: I Want to Believe (2008), Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans (2009) and Sun Dogs (2017).
