Xerosun

Xerosun are a four-piece metal band from Dublin, Ireland. The line-up consists of guitarists Fiachra Kelly and Gareth Jeffs, drummer Darrin Bell, and bassist and vocalist Ivan O’Sullivan.

Style and sound

The band blends a range of heavy influences into a sound described as melodic, powerful and aggressive. Their music crosses heavy metal with soaring, passionate vocals, and they are associated with metal, alternative metal, rock and cyber-metal.

Early activity and releases

Xerosun build their profile through extensive live work in Ireland and England. As their sound develops, they also release music videos alongside two EPs. Their debut album, Absence of Light, receives a 5 out of 5 rating from Black Velvet Magazine, which describes it as a dark industrial-sounding record that is well constructed and strongly delivered.

Artwork, cover version and recognition

The album is issued in a limited edition digipak with artwork by Seth Siro Anton, whose work appears on releases by Paradise Lost, Soilwork, Caliban, Septicflesh and Kamelot. Xerosun also record a cover of Paradise Lost’s True Belief, which receives praise from Paradise Lost guitarist Gregor Mackintosh, who responds positively by email.

Live appearances

The band make their live television debut to an audience of 500,000 on Irish national television. In November 2010, they support Avenged Sevenfold on the Irish leg of that group’s world tour at Dublin’s Olympia Theatre.

Audience

Xerosun develop a grass-roots following on the US college radio circuit and build a growing fan base in Europe.
