Wraiths

Wraiths is an Edinburgh group active since 2006. The line-up consists of Gaendaal and Nakir. Their music is described as dark ambient, death industrial and noise, and is associated with drone, black ambient and ritual ambient approaches.

Style and method

The group works with found and re-structured equipment, location acoustics and human vocals. It does not use computers or synthesizers in recordings or live performance. Its releases are recorded live and improvised under ritual conditions.

Sound and influences

Wraiths is linked with acts such as Burzum, Lustmord, Wolf Eyes and Sunn O))) for comparison. The project presents dense walls of noise, static and harsh vocal textures, drawing on dark ambient and ritualised drone.
