Wormed

Wormed is a Spanish technical brutal death metal band from Madrid, formed in 1998. The group is active from 1998 to the present and is associated with brutal death metal, death metal, deathgrind and technical death metal. It releases material on Season of Mist.

History

The band begins with J. Oliver and Dani on guitars, Guillemoth on bass and Andy C. on drums. After a few months, Phlegeton joins as vocalist and shapes the band’s direction away from an initial gore-metal approach towards a space-themed concept. Wormed develops a sound described as atypical brutal death metal with a range of influences.

In December 1999, the band records its first MCD demo, Floating Cadaver in the Monochrome, with Tana of Avulsed working as sound engineer. The demo gains a strong response in the underground scene and sells more than 1,000 copies worldwide, appearing in three different editions with different CD designs.

In 2001, Wormed records the promo CD Voxel Mitosis, which contains a single song, made because of limited money and resources. The release has a more professional sound than the earlier MCD. After this session, Dani leaves the band, and Wormed continues as a four-piece with Phlegeton on vocals, J. Oliver on guitar, Guillemoth on bass and Andy C. on drums.

The band then plays festivals and concerts outside Madrid, building a reputation in the local and international underground scene. In December 2003, J. Oliver leaves because he lacks interest in playing outside Spain. Wormed looks for a replacement and finds Charly, a guitarist from Wormineye, a death metal band from Valencia. J. Oliver later returns, completing the line-up for new material.

In 2008, Migueloud, also known through work with Human Mincer and Body on Sections, joins after Charly returns to Valencia. Following a period of inactivity, Wormed releases the two-track single Quasineutrality in 2010. Its second album, Exodromos, follows on Willowtip Records.
