WonderBrass

WonderBrass forms in 1992 as a community street band from Pontypridd, South Wales. The group is led by instrumentalist and composer Rob Smith and drummer Mark O’Connor, and it develops through a mix of jazz, Latin, ska and soul. Its repertoire includes arrangements of material associated with Cannonball Adderley, Abdulah Ibrahim and Madonna, alongside original compositions.

The band collaborates with a range of international musicians, including Claude Deppa, King Django, Jason Yarde and the South African group Amampondo. Its instrumentation centres on brass and woodwind, with trumpet, trombone, flute, clarinet and funk influences reflected in its broad sound.
