Wind Rose

Wind Rose is a metal band from Pisa, Italy, active since 2009. Its line-up includes Daniele Visconti, Francesco Cavalieri, Claudio Falconcini, Federico Meranda and Cristiano Bertocchi.

Style and themes

The band’s music moves from progressive metal on its early releases towards folk metal on later material, while also drawing on symphonic power metal. Its lyrics are based on fantasy fiction, with a particular focus on mythological dwarves.

Formation and early years

Claudio, Daniele and Federico choose the name Wind Rose. They begin playing together in 2007 as a cover band performing music by Dream Theater, Symphony X and Blind Guardian, and they play many live shows before writing original material. In 2009, Francesco and Alessio join the group, and the band starts to develop its own progressive and epic songs.

Releases

Wind Rose releases its first EP in 2010 with production by Cristiano Bertocchi, who also works with Vision Divine and Labyrinth. The EP receives positive reviews and leads the band to record a full-length album under his artistic production. That album is Shadows over Lothadruin, released via Bakerteam Records and based on a fantasy story written by Claudio.
