Will Saul is a DJ and music producer from Glastonbury, United Kingdom, born in 1978. He is the founder of Simple Records and Aus Music, and his work sits across dance and electronica, with a focus on house, techno and related styles.

Record labels

Saul starts Simple Records in 2003 after working for Sony International’s A&R department for two years, then spending time at Koobla Records and Phonica, where he develops a deeper interest in house and techno. Simple Records becomes known for a melodic strain of house music, issuing releases by Saul and Sideshow, as well as Vector Lovers, Marc Romboy and Motorcitysoul. A compilation, Simple One, appears in 2005 and presents the label’s sound as edgy, deep, tuneful and organic.

He launches Aus Music in 2006 with Sideshow, known as Fink on Ninja Tune. The label explores a more leftfield and experimental area of house, techno, dub and downtempo, and releases music by Motorcitysoul, Lee Jones, Martyn, Appleblim, Ramadanman, Joy Orbison, Shur-I-Kan and Midland.

Releases and DJ work

In 2005, Saul releases his debut artist album, Space Between, a soulful and melodic record aimed more at home listening than the dancefloor. In 2009, he contributes a three-disc mix to EQ Recordings’ Balance series. He also becomes a resident at the London club The End for many years before it closes in 2009.

Broadcast and compilation work

Saul contributes to BBC Radio 1’s Essential Mix series in 2013. From 2015, he serves as A&R for !K7’s DJ-Kicks series, beginning with Actress and continuing with releases by DJ Koze, Seth Troxler, Moodymann, Dam-Funk, Jackmaster, Marcel Dettmann and Daniel Avery.
