Whorion

Whorion is a technical death metal group from Finland. It is formed in 2009 by Ep Mäkinen with the aim of combining heavy, bone-crushing metal with strong symphonic elements and a dark, space-themed atmosphere. The project develops over several years of composing, rehearsing and refining its style before a full band line-up comes together.

Line-up and early development

By the start of 2013, Iiro Illman and Dorian Logue join the band, followed by vocalist Ari Nieminen. For the debut release Fall Of Atlas, the line-up also includes drummer Ukri Suvilehto and composers Vili Itäpelto and Jussi Kirves, who help shape the symphonic side of the material. Heikki Saari later joins as the final member to complete the group.

Releases and activity

Fall Of Atlas is released in January 2014. A few months after that release, Whorion tours the United Kingdom on a headline run. The group later prepares its debut album The Reign of the 7th Sector, which is scheduled for release in 2015.
