Wholesome Fish are a British band built around fiddle, banjo and guitar, backed by a rhythm section. Their music draws on Celtic and gypsy-rooted folk, Cajun, boogie-blues and punk, and they are known for a dance-oriented, energetic sound.

The group performs at festivals and venues of different sizes in the UK, Ireland, Germany, Holland and the Czech Republic. They support acts including the Pogues, Transglobal Underground and Jah Wobble, and they also appear on bills with Eliza Carthy, the Baghdaddies and Dreadzone. They are veteran performers at the Glastonbury Blaggers’ stages and after-show parties.

Rory McLeod joins them on trombone on one occasion, and John Peel broadcasts one of their performances live on BBC Radio 1 in the early hours. The band also maintains a website and a MySpace page.
