White Room
White Room is an Italian post-punk act from Massa. The name is used by more than one musical project, but the act identified here is the five-piece based in Brighton.
Style and sound
The group plays an introspective form of indie rock and is described as moving between latin jazz, urban beats, trip-hop, romantic cinematic soundscapes, and post-punk elements. Its sound combines laptop programming and synthesizers with acoustic guitars, upright piano, and classic songcraft, with a strong focus on dream-like storytelling.
Formation and members
White Room is founded by Alex Dray and Eddy Silva. The project grows out of their attempt to shape and organise the “static” and noise of modern life into their own music. The act is a five-piece.
Related uses of the name
The name White Room is also associated with a Montreal alternative indie rock duo and with an alias used by Luke Brancaccio and Bruce Aisher, who also record as Brancaccio & Aisher and Suicide Sports Club. Under that alias, one progressive trance record appears on John Digweed’s Bedrock in 2001.
