WesGhost

WesGhost is a United States-based musician who makes pop punk with elements of rock, indie, punk and noise. The project is built around Will Useman. It presents a theatrical, secretive image, with the artist appearing in a white knit ski mask in videos and publicity material.

WesGhost focuses on 2000s-style pop-punk and writes from the perspective of younger listeners who feel excluded or out of step with mainstream social groups. The music gains comparison with early-2000s rock radio pop-punk rather than more polished alternative rock.

Background and style

Useman says he grows up in a mixed-race family in the Midwest. He learns guitar and keyboards by his teens and becomes interested in music after reacting strongly to Coldplay’s “The Scientist”.

His work is distributed using an unusual model that at one point incorporates Web3 and blockchain technology. He seeks audiences in online communities, including Web3 spaces, and becomes interested in the NFT community as part of that approach.

Releases and collaborations

WesGhost first releases music independently with the single “Sleepwalking”, which appears in 2023 and gains millions of streams. Other early singles include “Cursed” and “Teeth”, along with “Faceless” and “Withdrawals”, which are later released through a partnership with Columbia Records. In 2024, he releases “Facetime” and “Teeth”, with “Teeth” credited as a collaboration with Diggy Graves.

Alongside recording, WesGhost works on merchandise with designers, using Discord to gather ideas, and releases branded digital products on Roblox.
