We Are the Fallen

We Are the Fallen is an alternative rock and gothic metal group from Los Angeles, United States, formed in 2009. The line-up consists of Carly Smithson on vocals, Marty O’Brien on bass, Ben Moody and John LeCompt on guitar, and Rocky Gray on drums.

The band’s name is created by singer-songwriter Hana Pestle, who is connected to the band through Ben Moody. It refers to the members’ musical histories and the different projects and line-ups that come before the group’s formation. Marty O’Brien describes the band as a group of musicians brought together after earlier situations, bands, or projects fell apart or did not work out as planned.

We Are the Fallen announces its formation in 2009 and releases its debut single, “Bury Me Alive,” as a free download for the first 100,000 people to register on its official website. A later mastered radio edit appears on iTunes alongside a full-length version with an orchestral outro. The band also completes recording of its debut album, Tear the World Down, and makes the song “Without You” available to stream on its website.

The group’s first live performance takes place in London on March 23, and it then tours with HIM, beginning in Philadelphia on March 26, 2010. It also appears at Rock am Ring, Rock im Park and Download in the summer of 2010.

Before We Are the Fallen, Ben Moody, John LeCompt and Rocky Gray are former members of Evanescence, and Carly Smithson is known as a former American Idol contestant.
