We Are Animal

We Are Animal are a Welsh group working in indie rock, electronic, dance-punk, alternative dance and schredder. They begin recording and gigging together in North Wales and build an early profile through a raw, high-energy sound.

Early releases

Their debut demo album Idolise appears in late 2010. It is released by Japanese label Art Union, which discovers the band through their demo recordings online. The record is nominated for XFM’s Best New Music of 2011.

The track 1268 becomes one of the band’s best-known songs. It appears on the Dead Young Club Vol.2 10-inch vinyl compilation in 2010 and is later released through Too Pure/Beggars Banquet, only months into the band’s existence.

Live activity and recognition

We Are Animal tour heavily in this period, including appearances at BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend and the SXSW music conference. They also play a range of British festivals, including Rockness, Wakestock and Camden Crawl, and sell out shows in France and Italy.

The band attract attention from NME, XFM, 6 Music, Radio 1, The Fly and Artrocker, where they are playlisted or featured.

Later work

They later return with the EP Tacla, written and recorded in their native mountainous region of Snowdonia, North Wales.
