We Aeronauts
We Aeronauts are an Oxford group, with links to Brighton, France, Oxford and London, and they have been active since 2007. The line-up is a seven-piece band, and Tom Wade is a member. Their sound begins with a folk-influenced approach and later shifts towards distorted guitars, synths and pop melodies, with accordions and banjos giving way to effects pedals and electronic textures.
Recordings
The band’s Chalon Valley EP appears in 2011 and captures their early formation period, with folk instrumentation and a guest appearance by the Cathedral Choir of Christchurch, Oxford, recorded in the cathedral itself. The Don Valley EP appears in 2013 and presents the group in a more developed form, with distorted guitars and pop hooks.
Live activity
We Aeronauts play with Why?, Stornoway, Jonquil, Laura Marling, Jeff Lewis and Okkervil River, and they appear at Iceland Airwaves, Green Man, Standon Calling and Truck festival.
