Waterfront
Waterfront is a Welsh pop duo from the 1980s made up of Phil Cilia and Chris Duffy. The group is short-lived and works in a style associated with British pop and new wave acts of the period.
Career
The duo sign to Polydor Records and build their profile around a run of singles released between 1988 and 1989. Their best-known recording is “Cry”, which becomes their most successful single. It first appears in 1988 and later reaches number 17 in the UK and number 10 in the United States in a remix version. Other singles include “Nature Of Love”, “Broken Arrow” and “Move On”.
Releases
Their self-titled album, Waterfront, is released in 1989 and reaches number 45 in the UK and number 103 in the US. A compilation titled Best Of appears in 1991. The album is reissued in 1991 in a greatest-hits-style format, but the release is not promoted and the group is dropped soon afterwards.
Selected singles
“Cry” is released in 1988 and later reissued in remix form; “Nature Of Love” also receives a reissue. “Broken Arrow” and “Move On” complete the group’s main run of chart singles.
