Walking Papers
Walking Papers is a rock band from Seattle, Washington, formed in 2012 and active since then. The group is built around Jeff Angell and Barrett Martin, both long-established figures in the Seattle music scene. Their line-up also includes Benjamin Anderson and Duff McKagan.
Background
Jeff Angell sings and plays guitar, and has previously worked with Post Stardom Depression and The Missionary Position. Barrett Martin is a drummer and multi-instrumentalist whose earlier work includes Skin Yard, Screaming Trees, Mad Season and Tuatara. The band’s debut recording features contributions from McKagan, Mike McCready, Anderson, and a horn section including Dave Carter on trumpet, Dan Spalding on baritone saxophone, and Ed Ulman on trombone.
Style and recording
The band is associated with blues rock, hard rock, rock, grunge and blues. Its debut album combines conventional rock instrumentation with additional colours such as marimbas, vibraphone, piano and trumpet. It was recorded by Catherine Ferrante at Avast Studios in Seattle, mixed by Jack Endino at Soundhouse in Seattle, and mastered by Chris Hanzsek at Hanzsek Audio.
Credits and associations
Duff McKagan contributes bass on the debut album and is identified with Guns N' Roses and Velvet Revolver. Mike McCready contributes guitar and is identified with Pearl Jam and Mad Season.
