Vixen
Vixen is an all-female rock band from Saint Paul, United States, active from 1980 to the present. The group works in hard rock, heavy metal, glam metal, glam rock and AOR, and is associated with Band of Vixen, Inc. and Vix Songs.
Career
The band gains recognition in the late 1980s and early 1990s with a run of hits from its first two albums, including “Edge of a Broken Heart”, “Cryin’”, “How Much Love” and “Love Is a Killer”. After its second release, Rev It Up, the group splits at the height of its success because of creative differences over songwriting and musical direction.
A third studio album, Tangerine, appears in 1998 under the name of Janet Gardner and Roxy Petrucci, with help from uncredited musicians, and against the wishes of founder and copyright owner Jan Kuehnemund. This leads to a legal dispute. After later reunions and tours, Vixen returns with a stable line-up and tours again, then releases Live and Learn in 2006. That album is produced by Dennis MacKay, who also produces the band’s debut.
Members and line-up changes
Over time, the group includes Jan Kuehnemund, Lynn Louise Lowrey, Kathrin Kraft, Jenna Sanz-Agero, Lorraine Lewis, Rosa Laricchiuta, Roxy Petrucci, Britt Lightning, Julia Lage, Janet Gardner, Tamara Ivanov, Pia Maiocco, Share Pedersen, Gina Stile, Maxine Petrucci, Pat Holloway, Nancy Shanks, Cindy Boettcher, Noelle Bucci, Gayle Erickson-DeMatoff and Liza Carbe. In 2024, Lorraine Lewis leaves the band after more than five years as lead singer, and Rosa Laricchiuta makes her live debut with the group.

The name Vixen also applies to several unrelated acts, but the rock band from Saint Paul is the best-known use of the name in hard rock and glam metal circles.
