Viet Cong
Viet Cong is a Canadian post-punk and noise rock group formed in Calgary in 2012. The band features Matt Flegel and Mike Wallace, both formerly of Women, along with Daniel Christiansen of Sharp Ends and Scott Munro, who also plays with Lab Coast and Reuben and the Dark.
Releases
After a run of live shows, the group releases its debut EP, Cassette, in 2013. Its songs range across atmospheric psych folk, jangling indie textures, garage-influenced bounce, experimental passages and moody, sprawling arrangements. Viet Cong then issues its self-titled debut album in 2015.
Related history
The band forms after the dissolution of Women, and its members go on to take part in other projects. Viet Cong is also known as the earlier name of Preoccupations.
