Vicetone

Vicetone is a Dutch electronic music duo from Groningen, made up of Ruben den Boer and Victor Pool. Active since 2012, the pair work in dance music, including Dutch house, EDM, electro house and house, with a strong focus on progressive house.

Formation and early work

Den Boer and Pool meet at school at 15 and share an interest in electronic music from childhood. They begin producing their own tracks after being influenced by artists such as Eric Prydz and Swedish House Mafia. In early 2012, they start making house music, particularly progressive house, and sign to Monstercat that same year.

Releases and collaborations

The duo release Heartbeat with Collin McLoughlin on Monstercat, a track that receives a strong public response. They later remix tracks by Adele, Calvin Harris, Maroon 5 and Zedd. Their releases also include Lowdown and Ensemble on Spinnin' Records, work issued through Nicky Romero's Protocol Recordings and Hardwell's Revealed Recordings, and What I've Waited For on Monstercat.

Vicetone also collaborate with Nicky Romero on Let Me Feel, which becomes their first Beatport number one overall charting track. Other releases include United We Dance, written as the soundtrack for the 2014 Ultra Music Festival aftermovie and later issued on Ultra Records.

2013 to 2016 activity

In 2013, Vicetone enter the DJ Mag Top 100 DJs list for the first time at number 60. They move up to number 36 in 2014 and to number 50 in 2015. During this period, they tour and perform at a range of events, including Nicky Romero's Nothing Toulouse: North American Tour, Protocol Recordings ADE 2013 Label Night, Nervo's #NERVOnation tour in Mexico, Ultra Music Festival, and TomorrowWorld in Atlanta.

In 2015, they release No Way Out with vocalist Kat Nestel, followed by Angels and Nothing Stopping Me with her later that year. They also remix Project Yi from League of Legends and Hardwell and Tiësto's collaboration Colors. In 2015, they release the 2015 Ultra Music Festival anthem Follow Me featuring JHart.

Later releases

At the start of 2016, Vicetone release Pitch Black on Spinnin' Records. This is followed by their first EP, Aurora, released in April, and a headline tour with the same name.
