Verse Metrics

Verse Metrics are a Glasgow-based alternative rock band active since 2009. The group consists of Bob Dick on guitar and vocals, Alan Conway on guitar, David Dailly on bass and Martin Dalziel on drums.

Releases

The band forms in late 2009 and releases a 5-track EP, VM1, followed by the double A-side single Sleep & Wakefulness. The opening track from VM1, Tired Lights, receives an honourable mention in The Scotsman’s inaugural Radar Prize.

Coverage and recognition

Verse Metrics appear in Vic Galloway’s Tips for 2011 and in the Sunday Herald’s A-Z of ones to watch in 2012. Several tracks receive radio play on BBC Radio Scotland, BBC Introducing and 6 Music, alongside coverage from independent stations and podcasts. The band also receives features in The Scotsman’s Under the Radar and The Evening Times, with positive reviews in The Herald, The List and The Skinny.

Live activity and recording

The group tours across Scotland and England with acts including Found, United Fruit, Arches, Gothenburg Address, Bwani Junction and I Build Collapsible Mountains. In August 2012 they record five new tracks with engineer Jamie Savage at Chem19 studios for the Radians EP.
