Vehicle

Vehicle is a Dutch instrumental rock group from the Netherlands. The band consists of Sebastiaan Janssen, Dennis Kersten, Gino Minuitti and Melvin Wevers.

Style and sound

The group plays post-rock with influences from math rock and art rock, and is also described as instrumental rock. Its sound combines soft, melodic passages with heavier chords and a dynamic, forceful approach. Vehicle is compared with bands such as Labradford and Tristeza, as well as the larger post-rock style associated with Mogwai and Explosions in the Sky.

Career

Vehicle is active by 2005 and develops a heavier, more dynamic direction on its second EP, You! A Stevedore. That release also reflects influences from Shellac and Tortoise while keeping the band’s post-rock character. The group is known for ambitious live performances and a strong emphasis on atmosphere and volume.
