Uzeda

Uzeda are a Sicilian rock group formed in 1987 in Catania, Italy. The line-up includes lead singer Giovanna Cacciola, guitarists Agostino Tilotta and Giovanni Nicosia, bassist Raffaele Gulisano and drummer Davide Oliveri. Giovanni Nicosia leaves the band in 1995.

Sound and recordings

The group’s records are recorded on four occasions by producer Steve Albini, whose work helps shape their sound. Their music is described as fiery, nervous, sludgy and unpredictable, with sudden time changes and wide dynamic shifts.

Hiatus and related project

After touring in support of Different Section Wires, Uzeda go on a lengthy hiatus. During that break, Giovanna Cacciola and Agostino Tilotta form Bellini with Damon Che, the drummer from Don Caballero.

Later activity

Uzeda return in 2006 with the album Stella.
