Useless ID

Useless ID is an Israeli punk band from Haifa, formed in 1995. The group is a four-piece and includes Yotam Ben Horin, ישי ברגר, Ido Blaustein and Guy Carmel.

Background

The band begins by playing local shows in Israel, then starts travelling to California for performances, which helps it gain wider international attention. It sets up its own label, Falafel Records, named after the food.

Recordings and labels

Useless ID first comes to the attention of The Ataris, who like its material and arrange a split EP on Kung Fu Records. The band then signs to Kung Fu Records and releases three more records for the label. One of its songs, “State of Fear”, appears on Rock Against Bush, Vol. 2. In 2008, Suburban Home Records releases The Lost Broken Bones, a 12-track album with a darker, heavier and more aggressive sound than the band’s earlier work. Since 2011, the band has been signed to Fat Wreck Chords.
